What Is the ZKTeco FR1200?
The ZKTeco FR1200 is an IP65-rated, RS-485 fingerprint slave reader designed to work with InBio controllers and compatible standalone terminals, supplied in Bangladesh by DigiMark Solution as an Authorized Distributor of ZKTeco. It captures a fingerprint and sends the match data over RS-485 to a paired controller — it does not store users or drive a lock on its own.
Key features
- RS-485, not Wiegand — this changes what it connects to. The FR1200 speaks RS-485 to an inBio series controller or an F8-class standalone terminal. It will not plug into a generic Wiegand panel. If your existing system is Wiegand, this is the wrong reader — and it is the single most common ordering error in this category.
- The fingerprint template lives on the controller — The reader captures the image and passes it on; the database, the rules, and the decision all sit on the panel. That is why capacity is not listed on the reader — it is a controller specification.
- IP65 for genuine outdoor use — Rated for all-weather operation at gates, fences, and exposed entrances. Indoor-rated readers under a shed do not survive a Bangladeshi monsoon.
- 324 MHz CPU with ZKTeco optical sensor — Fast enough that verification does not become the bottleneck at a busy gate, and the optical sensor is proven across ZKTeco's terminal range.

How it works
The reader sits at the door and captures the credential. It sends the identifier to the controller over its communication interface (RS-485 — not Wiegand). The controller checks the identifier against its user database and access rules, then energises or releases the lock. Feedback — the LED and buzzer on the reader — reflects the controller's decision, not merely that a credential was read.
