What the UBio-X Iris is
The UBio-X Iris is a multimodal iris and fingerprint access control and time attendance terminal, supplied in Bangladesh by DigiMark Solution as the exclusive distributor of UBio.
A reader is not a controller. It captures a credential and passes it to an access control panel or terminal, which holds the user database and drives the lock. If you need a device that opens a door on its own, you need a standalone terminal instead. We say this plainly because ordering a reader expecting a working door is the most common mistake in this category.
Key features
- Iris at 50 cm is what makes this usable in practice — Older iris readers required the user to put their eye to the device, which people dislike and which slows a queue badly. Reading at up to 50 centimetres means the user simply looks at the terminal — the difference between a technology demonstration and something a workforce will actually use every morning.
- Works through glasses and masks — Face recognition struggles with masks; fingerprint struggles with worn hands. Iris reads through both, which is why it holds up in hospitals, laboratories, clean rooms, and any site where staff cannot remove protective equipment at the door.
- Multimodal — iris and fingerprint together — Not either/or. High-security doors can require both, and staff whose iris fails for any reason still have a working fallback on the same device rather than a separate terminal.
- Raised bezels protect the optics — The eye-facing lenses are the vulnerable part of any iris reader. The recessed design means a knock does not put the unit out of service — a practical detail that decides five-year reliability.

How it works
The reader sits at the door and captures the credential. It sends the identifier to the controller over its communication interface ([confirm]). The controller checks the identifier against its user database and access rules, then energises or releases the lock. Feedback — the LED and buzzer on the reader — reflects the controller's decision, not merely that a credential was read.
